The Marcos Mantaray, launched at the 1998 British Motor Show, looked to modernise Marcos’ ‘classic’ shape whilst retaining the sporty and sophisticated attributes that made its cars so desirable. This 1999 model is one of just 17 produced and in exemplary condition, covering just 18,000 miles between its two owners.
Fitted with a 3.9 litre Rover engine, this Mantaray mixes a relaxed driving experience, one which rivals any ‘GT’ of its time, with an impressive level of performance. At 1180kgs, it revels in tight, twisty roads, the optional AP 4-pot calipers giving excellent feel and stopping power when required.
Mechanically, this Mantaray has been maintained to the highest possible standard throughout its life. The first keeper, well-known within club circles, used the car sparingly in his 24 years of ownership. Maintained with us in recent years, the car has benefitted from a disc and pad change, new driveshafts as well as a host of other small upgrades.
Despite being 25 years old, the paintwork and interior condition far surpass what you would expect of a car at this age. Aesthetically well specified, Ferrari blue bodywork, sitting on OE 17″ Fox Racing wheels, accompanies a lined, as-new, black Happiche hood.
On the inside, the Mantaray features immaculate magnolia leather with contrast blue pipework and matching carpets. In addition to electrically adjustable pedals, electric windows, a heated windscreen, and power steering are all present and functional.
