Servicing and Restoration

With five decades of experience working on a broad range of classic and specialised cars, Redline Sportscars is immensely experienced in all aspects of car maintenance and restoration.

Specialising in classic British sportscars, we are capable of maintaining, restoring and enhancing automobiles utilising skills passed down through generations.

Proficient in metal and composite bodywork, FIA standard race preparation, mechanical and chassis rebuilds and retrofitting of electrical systems into historic cars, our fully equipped workshop allows to undertake almost any task. Our extensive knowledge centres around Marcos, Lotus and TVR and extends to marques as diverse as Maserati and Gordon Keeble. Moreover, our technical understanding has allowed us to carry out comprehensive restorations of multiple rare and highly sought-after vehicles.

We recently had the pleasure of restoring a 1965 Marcos 1800 GT to FIA specification. Bought in 2014 as a project, the car was stripped down to a bare shell and repainted in Aston Martin Chiltern Green as per the fabled ‘Le Mans 1800’. Major modifications were made to enhance the car’s motorsport pedigree, including:

  • Unique aluminium engine bay cladding
  • Rear axle conversion
  • Bespoke lightweight wiring harness
  • Fire extinguishing system and VBOX installation
  • Full re-trim using lightened panels

The 1800 gained its FIA passport in 2020 and has since competed in and won a number of hillclimb and sprint events.

RECENT WORK AND ONGOING PROJECTS

1967 MARCOS 1600 GT

This wood chassis 1600 GT came to us in December 2022 for major mechanical and cosmetic renvoation, which included: Correction of hundreds of fiberglass cracks, an engine refresh, wiring loom repair and reconfiguration, custom Aluminium engine bay paneling and a carbon fibre dashboard.

Re-painted in Miura Green and and trimmed with matching pipework, the car left us to be displayed at Hampton Court Concours of Elegance in 2023.

1973 LOTUS ELAN SPRINT

Though mechanically in good condition, this Elan Sprint required significant number of fibreglass repairs before it was repainted in Lotus Cirrus White with ‘Sprint’ correct gold bumpers. In addition to this, we crafted and installed fresh headlining, tidied and painted the engine bay and carried out multiple upgrades to improve the car’s performance and reliability.

1998 MARCOS MANTIS

We have recently started converting Marcos spyders to Coupe specification. In addition to two LMs, we undertook the conversion of this Dragon Green Mantis in 2022. As well as bonding the roof in, outer channels were added to the aluminium door frames and a fresh headlining made up and installed.
