1996 Marcos LM400 3.9 V8

Balmoral Green

30,143 Miles

3.9-litre Rover V8

5-Speed Manual

Right-Hand Drive

Finished in Balmoral Green with a tan leather interior, this 1996 Marcos LM400 is a striking example of one of the most recognisable cars produced during Marcos’ 1990s revival.

Under the bonnet sits the wonderfully characterful 3.9-litre Rover V8, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. With its long bonnet, muscular arches, purposeful rear wing and unmistakable V8 soundtrack, the LM400 delivers everything that makes a Marcos such a special car to own and drive.

Having covered just 30,143 miles, this LM400 has had four owners from new and comes with a substantial history file containing invoices and supporting paperwork. The sill work was completed by Redline Sportscars in 2016.

In August 2026, the car received more than £3,100 of servicing and remedial work at Marcos Heritage. This included:

  • Full service and comprehensive inspection
  • New spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm and ignition coil
  • Replacement drive belt
  • New aluminium washer bottle
  • Replacement sump gasket and front crankshaft oil seal
  • Replacement aluminium coolant pipework and silicone hoses
  • New radiator fan switch
  • Replacement steering-column bushes
  • Exhaust flexi repair
  • Fresh MOT

A removable hardtop has also recently been professionally fitted by Marcos Heritage. The hardtop was originally sourced from another LM and suits the car exceptionally well, giving it a purposeful coupé appearance while making it far more usable throughout the year. Please note that a soft top is not included with the car.

The tan leather cabin contrasts beautifully with the Balmoral Green bodywork and is finished with green piping, deep green carpeting and burr-wood dashboard and centre-console trim. The traditional Smiths-style instruments, low seating position and wide centre tunnel create a cabin that feels unmistakably Marcos.

The exterior retains all the features that define the LM400, including its aggressive front air dam, bonnet vents, widened bodywork, side-exit detailing, large rear wing and split-rim-style alloy wheels. Under the bonnet, carbon-fibre panels provide a smart finishing touch around the Rover V8.

The car starts, runs and drives extremely well, with no faults found during our assessment. Its recent expenditure, low mileage and fitted hardtop make this a particularly appealing LM400 that is ready to be enjoyed.

A superb opportunity to acquire a distinctive, low-mileage British sports car with genuine presence, strong performance and an excellent V8 soundtrack.
